I love to capture the heart and soul of a pet in my portraits! The key to achieving this is having a high-quality reference photo that highlights all those subtle details. Here are a few tips to help you take the perfect photo for your portrait.
Ideally photos would need to be high resolution, so when you zoom in, you can see a lot of details in the image. A photo with details in the eyes and nose will significantly bring a portrait to life.
Try to ensure that the subject is close in the photo but isn't too far away in the distance. This could potentially blur or distort the image when zooming in.
If possible, try to take you picture in natural sunlight as flash tends to distort colours and details.
Think about the angle of the shot and how you want your pet to be positioned. Would you prefer them facing the camera directly or looking off to the side?
Try bribing your pet with a tasty treat to get their attention. I've found this works wonders with my dog and always does the trick!

Please don't worry if you've sadly lost your beloved fur baby. I'll do my utmost to create a cherished memorial piece of your pet from the photo you provide.
I provide a local photography service for an extra charge, where I can photograph your pet and help choose the best one for your portrait.
If you are unsure on your chosen reference photo, feel free to drop me a message or email to discuss.
With love,
